Shake-Up in Bauchi: Gov Mohammed Dismisses Five Commissioners

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has undertaken a bold cabinet reshuffle, relieving five commissioners of their duties in a strategic move to rejuvenate governance and enhance service delivery across the state.

The announcement, made through a statement issued on the 7th of January, 2025, by Mukhtar Gidado, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, underscores the administration’s commitment to tackling emerging challenges with fresh perspectives and renewed vigor.

“In that respect, five commissioners were dropped. This move reflects the administration’s commitment to injecting new ideas and energy into governance, in line with the governor’s vision of strengthening the machinery of government and addressing emerging challenges effectively,” the statement read.

The commissioners affected include Jamila Dahiru (Education), Abdulhameed Bununu (Internal Security and Home Affairs), Usman Danturaki (Information and Communication), Madugu Yalams (Agriculture), and Yakubu Ibrahim (Religious Affairs and Societal Reorientation).

Governor Mohammed expressed profound gratitude to the outgoing officials, acknowledging their pivotal roles in driving key initiatives of his administration.

“Their efforts have been instrumental in advancing key initiatives and policies of this administration,” Gidado quoted the governor as saying.

As part of this shake-up, Governor Mohammed has submitted the names of eight nominees to the State House of Assembly for security clearance and confirmation as commissioners.

The nominees are Babayo Tilde (Toro LGA), Abdullahi Mohammed (Misau LGA), Bala Lukshi (Dass LGA), Usman Shehu (Shira LGA), Iliyasu Gital (Tafawa Balewa LGA), Titus Ketkukah (Tafawa Balewa LGA), Babayo Gabarin (Darazo LGA), and Lawal Rimin Zayam (Toro LGA).

Governor Mohammed reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to transformative development and improving the lives of Bauchi residents.

“This reshuffle is part of our commitment to fulfilling the mandate of this administration and ensuring that governance remains responsive to the needs of the people,” Gidado added.
