Seun Kuti has questioned the legitimacy of some musicians’ financial status, casting doubt on the sources of their wealth.
During a recent Instagram Live session, the singer shared his skepticism, suggesting that the immense wealth displayed by certain artists may not be purely from music earnings.
The father of two revealed that despite being in the industry and touring for two decades, he is just starting to build his first house, while others with only a few hit songs are already far richer than he is.
“I have been touring for over 20 years, and I’m only just building my first house. Where is the music money coming from? Musician never get two songs, he don buy Lamborghini and G-wagon. Where’s this music money coming from?” He said.
In recent times, numerous Nigerian artists have openly celebrated the profitability of the music industry.
Rapper Shallipopi, in a recent interview, shared that he experienced a significant financial turnaround shortly after releasing a few hit tracks, highlighting just how lucrative the industry can be.
