Candidate of the Social Democratic Party has defeated that of the ruling All Progressives Congress for Lafia Central State Constituency election.
Consequently, the Independent National Electoral Commission has declared candidate of the SDP, Mr Solomon Akwashiki, winner of Lafia Central Constituency, Nasarawa State House of Assembly in the March 18 2023 Governorship and State Assembly elections.
Announcing the results in Lafia, the Returning Officer, Prof Samaila Usman said Mr Solomon Akwashiki scored 17,861 votes to defeat his immediate opponent and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Babanlungu Ahmed, who got 17,113 votes.
APC candidate, who lost in his bid to be re-elected for the second consecutive term, Mr. Angibi came third with 16, 413 votes while
NNPP candidate polled 15, 209 to come fourth, respectively.
Some political party agents who participated in the election, including the PDP and APC declined to sign the result sheets.
Collation of results of the election from Lafia Central of Nasarawa State Constituency was declared inconclusive due to irregularities in computation of results arising from Ciroma and Gayam wards of the Constituency.
