Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has mourned the passage of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly during the Third Republic, Rt. Hon. Abayomi Kinyomi.
Kinyomi, who was the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly between January 1992 and November 1993 during the tenure of former Governor Michael Otedola, died at the age of 82 on Tuesday after a brief illness.
Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Gboyega Akosile, described the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain as a trustworthy and committed member of the ruling party.
He said the former lawmaker spent his life in the service of humanity and Lagos State, particularly as a lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
“The death of Rt. Hon. Abayomi Kinyomi is a big loss to Lagos State Government, our party, the All Progressives Congress, his family and friends.
“Papa Kinyomi did his best by serving Lagos State passionately as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly during the Third Republic. He was also a committed member of our great party, APC till his death.
“I pray that God would grant the soul of our beloved Papa Abayomi Kinyomi eternal rest and comfort the immediate and political families he left behind,” the governor said.
