Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje says the All Progressives Congress Congress’ presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bols Tinubu, has agreed to pick a Muslim running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
Nigerians have continued to express varied concerns about a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Tinubu had picked a Katsina politician, Alhaji Kabir Ibrahim Masari,
as a placeholder to best the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Ganduje told a gathering of about 100 clerics at the state Government House, an event that was part of the activities scheduled to mark Eid El Kabir, that Tinubu had been advised to pick a Muslim running mate and he had agreed.
“We have advised him to pick a Muslim deputy and he has agreed. A Muslim-Muslim ticket is a reality. It is not something new in Nigeria,” the governor said.
He, therefore, asked the clerics to pray for the APC flagbearear to emerge as Nigeria’s president in 2023.
Ganduje, who also urged them to pray for peace and progress throughout his tenure, asked the clerics to as well pray for his Deputy, Yusuf Gawuna, who is the APC governorship candidate for 2023 elections in Kano State.
