Nigerian singer Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has opened up about why he’s frequently booked for more shows than some of his industry peers.
According to Ruger, his success stems from not just his musical talent, but also the personality and energy he brings to each performance.
Ruger shared his thoughts on his X handle, emphasizing that being a great performer requires more than just having hit songs. He noted that some artists with numerous hits still struggle with stage presence.
“Let me explain to you why I get booked so much,” Ruger wrote. “I don’t come on stage to sing (of which I know I’m so good at); I bring my whole f***ing personality on stage, it’s not a joke. It’s not by having hit songs. You can have a million hit songs and still be clueless on stage at a 200-capacity venue.”
Ruger’s statement highlights the importance of stage presence and charisma in standing out as a performer in the music industry.
