Despite leading 34-29 at halftime, the Ogoh Odaudu-coached Rivers Hoopers elevated their game in the second half.
They outscored Hoops and Read 37-25 across the final two quarters, showcasing their offensive depth and defensive solidity.
Kelvin Amayo, a standout performer at this year’s Basketball Africa League (BAL), delivered a masterclass, leading all scorers with 29 points.
Amayo’s first-half performance set the tone, as he poured in 20 points, including three 3-pointers.
His overall efficiency, shooting 11-of-23 from the floor, earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
