Reps Postpone Oversight Meeting with Rivers Sole Administrator

The House of Representatives has postponed its scheduled interactive session with Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), originally set for Thursday, April 17.

The session, convened by the Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight and chaired by House Leader, Prof Julius Ihonvbere, was expected to address governance concerns following President Bola Tinubu’s suspension of democratic structures in the state on March 18, 2025.

In a statement on Thursday, April 17, House Spokesman Akin Rotimi said the postponement came at the request of the Sole Administrator.

“The Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight has received a formal request from the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), to reschedule the interactive session initially set for today, April 17, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.,” the statement read.

“The Committee has acknowledged the request and is in the process of coordinating a new date for the session. In the spirit of transparent and effective oversight, the public will be promptly informed once the rescheduled date is confirmed,” it added.

No new date has been announced.
