Tragedy struck the Bassa community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State on Thursday morning, as a devastating bomb explosion shattered the lives of local farmers.
The blast claimed the life of one individual, leaving four others gravely injured.
Eyewitnesses recount that the victims were heading to their farms when the explosion occurred.
Among the injured, three have suffered life-altering injuries, losing their legs in the blast.
They are currently receiving critical care at the IBB Specialist Hospital.
Ahmed Almustapha, a resident and relative of three victims, revealed that this marks the second bombing in Bassa within a month.
Just two weeks earlier, a similar explosion took another life, also targeting unsuspecting farmers on their daily routine.
With sorrow and frustration, Almustapha urged both the Niger State Government and the federal authorities to step in with immediate support.
He emphasized the community’s desperate need for safety and assistance to restore their shattered livelihoods and ensure their fields remain a source of sustenance, not a path of peril.
