Rema Sets the Record Straight: ‘They Say I Worship Devil’

Popular Nigerian artist, Divine Ikubor, widely recognized as Rema, has shared what he believed to be the wildest rumour he had come across about himself online.

According to the singer, the most absurd claim was being accused of being a “devil worshiper.”

Rema opened up about this during a recent appearance on the ‘Kids Take Over’ podcast.

The host asked: “What’s the most crazy, untrue thing that you’ve seen online about you?”

Rema replied: “They say worship the devil (laughs). It’s crazy. I didn’t respond to it because it was not important. It’s a waste of time.”

The singer clarified that the imagery in his artistic expression drew from Edo culture, dispelling any misconceptions of it being satanic.

Rema also touched on his 2020 collaboration with Canadian superstar Drake on the track “Mention Me,” which was unfortunately leaked.

“I’m happy to work with a legend like Drake. I feel like we are going to make a very huge song if we take our time to build something very strong,” he said.
