Protesters on Wednesday morning pulled down the first gate of the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, forcing their way into the premises.
The protesters led by the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero and his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Festus Osifo, had earlier asked security operatives manning the legislative building to open the gate to allow the angry workers to express their displeasure.
But following the refusal of the security officials to grant their request, the angry protesters pulled down the gate and subsequently moved to the second gate of the Assembly Complex.
Organised Labour, including the NLC, TUC and their affiliate unions, on Wednesday, commenced a protest in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and other states of the Federation including Lagos, Abia, Plateau, Kaduna, Kano, Rivers, Zamfara, Katsina, Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu, Kwara, Ogun, Imo, Ondo, and Edo.
The protesters numbering hundreds convened at the Unity Fountain from where they marched to the NASS Complex.
