Protest rocks Ogun over fuel, naira scarcity

Protesters on Tuesday stormed the streets of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, over scarcity of cash and fuel.

The protesters making bonfires and chanting anti – CBN songs, took over Aladesanmi, Fajol and Somorin in Obantoko areas of Abeokuta.

The protesters also attacked and vandalise the Sapon branch of First Bank, which they threatened to set ablaze.

State Police Public Relations, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the protest, said police operatives were monitoring the situation to prevent the destruction of property and loss of lives.

Oyeyemi, a Superintendent of Police, said a group of boys was behind the protest.

He added that the Command was studying the protesters to know whether they were Okada riders or not.

Police dispersed the protesters, but they regrouped and made bonfires with disused tires.
