Presidency Debunks Rumors of Rift Between Tinubu, Shettima

The Nigerian presidency has strongly dismissed reports suggesting a supposed rift between President Bola Tinubu and his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The allegations, which have been circulating in some media outlets, were described as baseless and fictional by the Presidential Spokesman in the Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha.

In an article authored by Nkwocha to mark Shettima’s 58th birthday, he firmly refuted claims that the Vice President is being sidelined or stripped of his duties.

He noted that “no Vice President has enjoyed the total confidence and full support of his principal like the current number two citizen.”

Nkwocha emphasized that Vice President Shettima has been a model of dedication and loyalty to President Tinubu, working in close collaboration with him to advance the administration’s agenda.

The article highlighted Shettima’s unwavering support for President Tinubu, portraying him as a key partner in the administration’s efforts to steer Nigeria towards progress.

Nkwocha pointed out that the harmonious relationship between the President and Vice President is a “refreshing shift” from the strained dynamics seen in previous administrations.

He said, “Unlike previous presidencies, which were mired in protracted public disagreements between vice presidents and their bosses, VP Shettima’s approach is a welcome change.”

Nkwocha urged Nigerians to disregard what he termed “illogical conspiracy theories” about the Vice President being sidelined.

He praised Shettima for bringing a “unique blend of experience, expertise, and energy” to the Tinubu administration, particularly in areas such as fiscal discipline, infrastructure investment, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

He further lauded Shettima’s commitment to social justice and human development, citing significant strides in education, healthcare, and social welfare under his advocacy.

According to Nkwocha, these efforts have been instrumental in stimulating economic growth and improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians, reinforcing the Vice President’s crucial role in the success of the Renewed Hope Administration.

The presidency’s response seeks to put to rest any speculation about discord within the nation’s highest office, reaffirming the unity and shared vision between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.
