Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on Wednesday, accused politicians of being the masterminds of the perennial security problems confronting the country.
Bello spoke during a programme on Channels television, Sunrise Daily.
According to him, all politicians except the President had haboured thugs and hoodlums, who they use in winning elections.
He said, “These hoodlums later turn criminals who terrorise the communities and seize peace from the people. Politicians should stop using thugs. Politicians at all levels are responsible for insecurity in the country. Whenever these criminals are arrested, they are bailed by the politicians and are walking free in the streets.
“In Kogi State, this had been going on until I came to power and I stopped it and dealt with the thugs according to the law. Security of this country must start from the politicians.”
Bello, however, implored politicians to desist from such dangerous game, which had been compounding the country’s problem.
The governor also lauded the efforts of the military in ensuring security in the north central.
“The military has done great job in the north central. I saw their impact in my state and I want to give kudos to them,” he said.
Speaking on COVID 19 vaccine, which is expected to be in Nigeria soon, Bello advised Nigerians not to submit themselves for its administration.
According to him, “The vaccine taking is not safe, especially as manufacturers have issued a statement that subjected it to a doubt. I wonder why we will be in a haste and put peoples’ lives at risk.”
