Political Challenges in Rivers Part of God’s Plan — Fubara

Kehinde Fajobi

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has described the ongoing political crisis in the state as a divine orchestration, believing it is part of God’s plan to bring about political freedom and economic growth.

Fubara made this statement during a thanksgiving service at the Shepard’s Hill Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Mgbuoba Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, on Sunday.

The service celebrated the appointment of His Royal Majesty, Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, as Chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council.

The governor expressed his unwavering faith in God, noting that the challenges his administration faced have only made his government stronger and more determined.

“I also believe that what you are calling trouble is not trouble to me. I see it as God’s purpose for a new direction for our State,” he said.

Fubara emphasised the importance of thanksgiving, stating that it brings clarity and assurance, guiding leaders through difficult situations.

He also praised Eze Wodo for his energetic display of gratitude, comparing it to King David’s unashamed dancing before God, which earned divine favor.

“It is one of the credits that made God to love King David so much,” he remarked.

In his address, Fubara called on the church to continue praying for his administration and the peace of the state.

“The secret of our administration is just one thing: your prayers. The quiet and secret prayers that you give for us in your closets count,” he assured.

The governor also made a ₦100 million donation to the church to support its evangelism efforts, in honor of Eze Wodo.

Eze Wodo, speaking during the service, thanked God for the victories in his life and expressed his gratitude to Governor Fubara for his support.

He pledged to continue supporting the governor’s administration.

Pastor David Adewuye, who delivered the sermon titled “We are ambassadors for Christ,” emphasised that true representation of God requires yielding to the saving grace of Jesus Christ, enabling individuals to understand their purpose and live out God’s plan.
