The Ogun State Police Command has assured residents of robust security measures to ensure a peaceful and crime-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.
This comes as the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, has also intensified surveillance and patrols across all 20 local government areas of the state ahead of the festivities.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday in Abeokuta. She disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, has deployed extensive motorized patrol teams and tactical units across the state to safeguard lives and property during the celebration.
According to her, specialized police units—including the SWAT, Monitoring Unit, Anti-Kidnapping, and Anti-Cultism squads—have been strategically positioned to prevent any outbreak of violence or criminal activity.
“The Command has beefed up round-the-clock surveillance, and there will be a visible police presence at all prayer grounds, public facilities, financial institutions, and recreational centers statewide,” Odutola stated.
She added that patrols have been extended to critical flashpoints such as Onigari, Ayetoro, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu Interchange, Long Bridge, Alapako, Ogunmakin, and Abeokuta. Stop-and-search operations are being conducted in conjunction with sister security agencies.
Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers have also been instructed to intensify patrols within their jurisdictions, while joint task force operations are in place to secure border communities.

Meanwhile, the So-Safe Corps has also rolled out security measures for the festive period. In a statement issued late Wednesday in Abeokuta, the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, said the agency has deployed over 1,000 personnel to monitor activities across the state.
According to Yusuf, the Commander of the Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, directed all Zonal and Area Commanders to collaborate with Islamic leaders and community stakeholders to swiftly respond to any suspicious activity.
“Commanders have been instructed to work closely with Imams, traditional rulers, and Community Development Associations to sensitize residents on the dangers of criminality. They are also to arrest anyone suspected of attempting to disrupt public peace,” he said.
The joint effort by the Ogun Police and So-Safe Corps aims to guarantee a safe and joyous Eid celebration for all residents.
