The Borno State Police Command has defused a bomb planted at Dalori Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Konduga Local Government Area.
Borno, for many years, is being terrorised by Boko Haram, and Islamic State of the West African Province(ISWAP) insurgents.
Police believe the terrorists planted the bomb at the Dalori camp, located a few kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital, along the Maiduguri-Bama road.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) Abdu Umar, speaking about the incident in a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Maiduguri, said as soon as the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) was discovered, personnel of the command were dispatched to the scene for disposal and evacuation.
He said “An unidentified element suspected to be an IED Planted inside a plastic bucket with a panel close to the fence of the camp by suspected insurgents was discovered.
“The IED was successfully defused by the EOD team without causing any casualties.”
Umar said that the general area had been sanitised and asked residents to go about their lawful business.
