Police Debunk Viral Claim Linking Child Beating to Islamiyyah School

The Borno State Police Command has dismissed viral social media claims suggesting that a recent incident involving the flogging of two children took place at an Islamiyyah school.

Speaking to TheCable on Monday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, clarified that the incident in question actually occurred at a private residence — not a school.

“Let me just set the record straight,” Kenneth stated. “The incident happened some time ago when two children entered the compound of a man and began plucking mangoes from his tree.”

According to the police spokesperson, the homeowner, upon discovering the children, locked them inside his premises and subjected them to severe beating.

Shockingly, the man’s wife recorded the ordeal on video, which later surfaced online and sparked widespread outrage.

Kenneth explained that swift action was taken by concerned members of the community who apprehended the man and handed him over to law enforcement authorities.

The case, he said, has since been transferred to the Ministry of Justice, which is now overseeing the prosecution process.

“As I speak to you, the suspect is still in our custody. We understand the sensitivity of the case and are handling it with the seriousness it deserves,” Kenneth added.

The police have urged the public to avoid spreading unverified claims and to allow due process to take its course in the matter.
