Police Crack Down on Nigerian Prostitution Ring in Cyprus

Kehinde Fajobi

Police in Limassol, Cyprus are working to dismantle a Nigerian prostitution ring, according to a report by CyrusMail on Wednesday.

Three women have been arrested in connection with the case, in coordination with the anti-trafficking unit.

The investigation began last year when a woman filed a theft complaint, which raised suspicions of sex trafficking during questioning.

Police spokesman Christos Andreou confirmed the report, stating, “The woman was relocated to a safe house upon further investigation.”

Andreou explained that the investigation took time due to the victim’s limited information about her abusers’ identities.

Police efforts eventually led to the arrest of a 44-year-old woman on October 9, followed by another arrest on October 18. A third woman, aged 33, was arrested on Tuesday.

Two men are still wanted in connection with the trafficking ring.

“Police have gathered substantial evidence and expect to bring the case to court in the coming days,” Andreou added.
