Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old man, Monday Chukwu, for allegedly killing his friend, Kefa Ofando, aged 30, over a N2,000 loan.
The incident took place in Akintola village, Odigbo Local Government Area.
According to police reports, Ofando had lent Chukwu the sum of N2,000. When he requested repayment, Chukwu allegedly stabbed him with a pair of scissors, leading to Ofando’s tragic death.
Chukwu was among 13 suspects paraded at the Ondo State Police Command headquarters for various offenses, including armed robbery, murder, arson, and theft.
In another case, a suspected arsonist, Renan Niju, from Lapepe in Bolorunduro, Ondo East Local Government Area, was arrested for allegedly setting a school on fire over a chieftaincy dispute.
Niju was apprehended when he returned to the property with lighter and fuel, intending to cause further damage.
Additionally, the police paraded a four-man gang suspected of stealing vehicle brain boxes and other valuables. The suspects were identified as Ifeanyi Obiefunna, 36, Joseph Agwu, 43, Obinna Uyammadu, 32, and Onyeka Okoye, 38. Agwu, who resides in Akure, reportedly acted as an informant, tipping off the others to travel to Ondo State to carry out the thefts before returning to Lagos.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladipo, assured the public that the suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigations.
“All suspects involved in these criminal activities will face justice as soon as our investigations are concluded,” the police commissioner stated.
