The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two male suspects in connection with the brutal murder of an 80-year-old woman, Mrs. Theresa Igbojonu, in her village of Umunwaji Ogboro, Ihiala Local Government Area.
The suspects allegedly tied the victim’s legs and mouth before killing her and subsequently stole her black CG motorcycle.
Police Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
The suspects in custody were identified as Chidiebere Igboanugo and Emmanuel Ibeabuchi, both residents of the same village as the victim.
According to SP Ikenga, the investigation commenced immediately after a formal complaint regarding the incident was received late on April 2, 2025.
A significant breakthrough occurred on April 5, when a joint security team on patrol arrested Chidiebere Igboanugo at Ezego junction in Ihiala. The arrest followed the deceased woman’s son identifying her stolen motorcycle being ridden by Igboanugo.
