The management of Plateau United has decided to place the entire team on half salary after a disappointing 2-0 loss at home to visiting Kwara United.
The former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions kicked off the 2020/2021 season with a shocking loss to a Kwara United who were in relegation zone last season.
A lacklustre show saw them concede two goals to the Afonja Warriors at the New Jos Stadium.
The General Manager of the team, Pius Henwan decided to slash the salary of the players as part of disciplinary measure to get them back to winning ways.
The salary slash according to an insider said affects both the coaching staff also.
Plateau United were elected champions of the 2019/2020 NPFL season after it was suspended in March 2020 due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
The club represented Nigeria in this season’s CAF Champions League but couldn’t make it past the preliminary round.
They lost 1-0 to Tanzanian giants, Simba SC in the first leg here in Nigeria and played 0-0 draw in Tanzania.
