Photos: Shettima, Atiku, Obi Unite to Honor Yar’Adua’s Mother at Her Final Farewell

A host of high-profile dignitaries, including Vice-President Kashim Shettima and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, attended the funeral service for Dada Yar’Adua, the mother of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who passed away at the age of 102 on Monday.

The funeral, held in Katsina, saw a significant turnout of political leaders and notable figures from across the country. Among those in attendance were Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Governor Umar Dikko Radda of Katsina State, and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate.

Also present were Datti Baba-Ahmed, Senator Ahmad Lawan, former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Senator Adamu Aleiro, and prominent businessman Dahiru Mangal. The emirs of Katsina and Daura were among the traditional leaders who came to pay their respects.

Dada Yar’Adua was the matriarch of the prominent Yar’Adua family, which has played a significant role in Nigeria’s political history.

In addition to being the mother of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, she was also the mother of General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, who served as Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters, under the military government of General Olusegun Obasanjo.

The death of Dada Yar’Adua marks the end of an era for the Yar’Adua family, and her passing has been met with an outpouring of condolences and tributes from across Nigeria.

The presence of such a wide array of dignitaries at her funeral underscores the deep respect and admiration she commanded throughout her life.
