Residents of Amegu Nkalaha Community in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have fled their homes after suspected armed herdsmen killed dozens and left many others injured.
It was gathered that the herdsmen attacked the Community on Sunday, killing and burning numerous houses.
While confirming to FirstNews Online, a resident who identified himself only as Emeka Chigozie stated that Yam bans and 25 houses were completely burned.
Photos making the rounds on social media on Monday show hundreds of residents on the road, leaving the community with some of their belongings, including cooking pots and mattresses, to nearby communities.
However, our correspondent gathered that troops of the Nigerian Army and policemen were sent to the community to calm the situation.
All efforts to contact the Command’s spokesperson, Joshua Ukandu, prove abortive.
