On Tuesday, the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, presented additional evidence to challenge the declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election.
The Presidential Election Petition Court accepted the evidence, which primarily consisted of result sheets and reports used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the election.
The Labour Party and Peter Obi are disputing the election outcome, which saw Tinubu, from the All Progressives Congress, being announced as the elected president by INEC.
During the proceedings, Peter Afoba, SAN, the counsel for the Labour Party and Obi, submitted various forms, such as EC40GPU and EC40G1, which contained summaries of registered voters and details of canceled or non-conducted elections in different local government areas.
These forms covered several areas in Niger, Osun, Edo, and Sokoto states.
Additionally, Obi presented reports on the election conduct in Niger and Edo states, along with INEC Results Viewing reports from various local government areas in Adamawa, Ogun, Ekiti, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom states.
Despite objections raised by the respondents in the petition, including INEC, Tinubu, vice-president Kashim Shetima, and the All Progressives Congress, the chairman of the PEPC, Justice Haruna Tsammani, admitted the exhibits as evidence.
The court adjourned further hearings in the case until June 14.
