Valentine Obienyem, Media Adviser to Peter Obi, says Labour Party’s presidential flagbearer has not issued any response to the ‘stingy man’ comments against him by the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka.
Mbaka had on Wednesday during a service in his church lambasted Obi, describing him as a ‘stingy man.’
The cleric’s diatribes against the LP presidential candidate drew criticisms from Nigerians on social media, who excoriated the Catholic Reverend father over his statement.
But earlier, media reports (First News not included) claimed that the LP presidential hopeful issued a statement in response to Mbaka.
Obi’s spokesman, in a statement, on Thursday, said Obi did not respond to Mbaka’s comment and would not issue any statement on the matter at any time.
According to the brief statement, “Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to Mr Peter Obi as his reply to Fr. Ejike Mbaka.
“We wish to state for the record that Mr Peter Obi did not and is not planning to issue any reply.
“We advise that any medium trying to publish such an unsigned letter should clarify its authenticity from Mr Obi’s Media Office.”
