Fiery Catholic priest and founder of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, says a man as stingy as Peter Obi cannot be Nigeria’s President.
Mbaka said this at a prayer service held in his church on Wednesday in Enugu.
Former Anambra governor, Obi is the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election.
The LP flagbearear will be contesting in next year’s presidential election against the standard bearers of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and ruling All Progressives Congress’ Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Addressing the church members, Mbaka, described Obi as a man without a generous spirit, saying there’s no way “a gum-holder” would be accepted as Nigeria’s President.
“It is better to have a President who is a gifted old man than a young man with ‘gum’ hands,” he said.
The cleric said the PDP flagbearear, Atiku had clearly demonstrated his readiness to run for office since the former vice president and Obi no longer have to hold a joint ticket.
“Peter Obi has a mouthful, he has nowhere to go unless he kneels down on the Adoration altar,” he added.
Mbaka accused Obi of insulting the Holy Spirit, claiming that helping Obi to get a second term as Anambra governor, “he did not come to thank God.
“Who doesn’t spend his money eating what you want to support? Do you want people to starve? If he becomes president, he will close our ministry. If Igbo people are looking for a representative in Nigeria, not the kind of person Peter Obi is.”
“Whoever refuses to donate to the church should be the president?”
He further accused Obi of jumping from APGA to some other political parties, despite the backing given him by the late Odumegwu Ojukwu to become the governor of Anambra State.
Mbaka said, “I (Peter Obi) started with Ojukwu, in the middle of the night you released Ojukwu, released Igbo is Igbo, released APGA, joined the PDP. He has now defected to the Labour Party, and his pregnancy is over.
“You know that there is nothing that students hate about ‘labour, everyone supports labour. If he takes this position from APGA, we know he has people to replace him.”
Mbaka had in 2018 predicted the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku and his running mate, Obi’s defeat in the 2019 general elections, following the former Anambra governor’s refusal to donate to his church project.
