Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has explained why he visited Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, at his resident, in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
According to Obi, he visited Wike to discuss important national matters.
Wike was a presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party. He lost the ticket to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Obi, who also was a presidential aspirant of the PDP, dumped the party before the presidential primary and defected to Labour Party, where he clinched the party’s presidential ticket.
Wike had after Obi left the PDP attacked him for dumping the major opposition.
Hence, as Obi visited Wike, who is believed to be aggrieved for not being chosen as the vice presidential candidate of the PDP, Nigerians were eager to know what informed the meeting of the duo.
But after the meeting, the two politicians did not reveal the details of the meeting.
However, Obi, hours later, wrote on his official Twitter handle, “Earlier today, I visited Port Harcourt, to confer with H.E. @GovWike on vital issues of national interest.”
Obi’s tweet came alongside photos of him and the Rivers leader.
