The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed his sympathy with Singer David Adeleke and his fiancée, Chioma Rowland, over the death of their son, Ifeanyi.
Other Nigerian politicians, including the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, have also been sending in condolence messages.
Ifeanyi was said to have drowned in a swimming pool at the father’s Banana Island home on Monday.
His death happened three days after he marked his 3rd birthday.
In his condolence message, Obi wrote through his Twitter handle, ”I send my sincere condolences to Davido and Chioma, over the death of their son Ifeanyi. I cannot begin to imagine the pains they are going through at the moment.
”May God grant them healing, strength and comfort in this trying time. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
Atiku, who also expressed his sympathy through a message on Twitter said, “My thoughts and prayers are with Davido and Chioma and the Adeleke family at this time. I pray for God to strengthen and comfort them.”

Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu. He wrote, “Dear David/Chioma, I am sober, I am deeply saddened by the loss of your son, Ifeanyi. I have cancelled my official engagements today to mourn him quietly.
“Ifeanyi will be missed by everyone. May the Creator accept our prayers on his behalf.”
Lagos State PDP deputy governorship candidate Funke Akindele: “This is so sad!! Ha!! Rest In Peace little champ. May the almighty God comfort Chioma,Davido and their families.”
Following the incident, the Osun State chapter of the PDP, earlier on Tuesday suspended political activities in honour of Ifeanyi.
The party said in a statement partly, “Our condolence goes to Davido, our youth ambassador. We commiserate with our father figure, Dr Deji Adeleke and the entire Adeleke family.
“We pray the good Lord grant the family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
Meanwhile, Davido’s eight domestic workers have been picked by the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation over the death of Ifeanyi.
