Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, emerged as the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum.
Makinde emerged as the Forum’s new chairman a few minutes after its former chairman, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal resigned from the position.
Makinde emerged the Forum’s new chairman at the ongoing PDP National Executive Council Board meeting in Abuja.
The party’s NEC earlier passed a vote of confidence in the PDP National Chairman Senator Iyorchia Ayu, ending the clamour by some aggrieved party members for his resignation.
A total of 397 members of the NEC, including the party’s past national chairmen; former Vice President Namadi Sambo; PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, among others, were accredited for the meeting.
All the 397 members of the NEC present at the meeting voted in support of Ayu continuing as the party’s national chairman.
