Peoples Democratic Party National Executive Council, on Thursday, passed a vote of confidence in the embattled National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.
With this development, Ayu won’t be stepping down after all.
Some members of the party have consistently demanded Ayu’s resignation as the chairman of the PDP.
But at the PDP NEC meeting on Thursday in Abuja, the party reiterated its confidence in Ayu.
A total of 397 members of the NEC, including past PDP national chairmen; the immediate past Vice President of the country, Namadi Sambo; the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, among others, were accredited for the meeting.
However, all the 397 PDP NEC members, who attended the meeting voted in support of Ayu continuing as the party’s chairman.
The PDP acting Chairman, Board of Trustees Chairman and former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, had put it to a voice vote after the House Minority Leader moved a motion for members of the committee to continue to have Ayu as the chairman of the party.
