National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Sunday, appointed Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, as the chairman of the Bayelsa State National Campaign Council.
Chief Press Secretary to Taraba Governor, Yusuf Sanda, announced the appointment in a statement made available to newsmen in the state capital, Jalingo.
According to the statement, Kefas will lead the 122-member team to the state ahead of the governorship election slated for November 11 this year.
The statement said the move is geared towards mobilising support for the re-election campaign of Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
“This important national assignment is in recognition of the sterling leadership qualities and democratic credentials of Dr Agbu Kefas, which have been applauded at home and abroad,” the statement said.
The statement added that the Campaign Council will be inaugurated on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.
Governor Diri will be flying the PDP flag in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa, while former minister, Timipre Sylva, who is the main opposition candidate, will be contesting the office on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
