A member of one of the major parties in Bayelsa State, Mr. George Sibo, has been killed at the collation centre in Twon-Brass, Brass Local Government Area of the state.
Sibo, who was popularly called “Kobo-Kobo,” was an aide to the Brass Local Government Chairman, Hanson Alabo-Karika.
The indigene of Twon-Brass, who was married with children, was attacked by thugs who invaded the collation centre.
According to eyewitnesses, Sibo was murdered at the Collation Centre when results for some wards in the constituency were being submitted.
The lawmaker representing Brass Constituency l, Dr. Daniel Charles, in his reaction to the incident, expressed sadness over the “gruesome murder of a vibrant and hardworking young man by desperate power seekers”.
Charles urged security agents to immediately arrest and prosecute perpetrators of the dastardly act.
Police Public Relations Officer in Bayelsa state, CSP Asinim Butswat, said he was awaiting details from the Police Area Commander of Brass.
INEC had earlier raised the alarm that its officials were being held hostage in Brass.
