The Committee recently constituted by the Bauchi State Government to the provide a framework for the distribution of palliatives has unveiled the proposed plans for the distribution exercise.
Briefing Journalists at Government House Bauchi, the State Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka said about ninety thousand bags of rice have been procured for onward distribution to people across the state.
Wanka said eighty million naira was earmarked for the payment of gratuities of state and local government pensioners while active civil servants are to receive one year leave grant out of the backlog of the twelve years outstanding benefit.
Similarly, ten 36- seater buses have been procured to ease transportation challenges for students as a result of the recent fuel subsidy removal.
She disclosed other aspects of the distribution exercise to include youth employment and conditional cash transfer where people living with disabilities, Healthcare Service Volunteers, Women and Social Workers would also benefit.
The Commissioner who noted that the exercise which would be monitored by local government authorities, traditional and religious leaders is expected to commence within the three weeks timeframe given by Governor Bala Mohammed.
Wanka used the medium to reassure the Committee’s resolve to ensure that all the targeted beneficiaries are reached.
