Fuji musician Okunola Saheed, popularly known as Saheed Osupa, has officially withdrawn the legal case initiated against controversial singer Badmus Okikiola, widely known as Portable. The withdrawal comes just a day after Portable was arraigned before a court in Ilorin, Kwara State, based on Osupa’s petition.
Osupa’s solicitor, Ahmed Opalekunde, confirmed to on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, that a notice of withdrawal had been filed at the Upper Area Court 1, High Court, Ilorin. This decision effectively terminates the legal proceedings initiated by Osupa against Portable.
The Kwara State Police Command had arraigned Portable on Monday following a direct complaint from Osupa alleging criminal defamation, criminal intimidation, inciting public disturbance, and cyberstalking.
The alleged offences were cited as contravening sections of the Penal Code, the Cybercrimes Act of 2015, and the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2020.
According to Opalekunde, the withdrawal was mandated by Saheed Osupa himself after significant intervention from stakeholders within the music industry and other prominent figures in society. These parties reportedly pleaded with Osupa to drop the case “in the interest of public peace,” leading to an amicable out-of-court settlement between the two artists.

The withdrawal letter submitted to the court formally requested the termination of the case, stating the matter had been resolved amicably. However, it also included a formal request for the court to admonish Portable, warning him to “desist from any further publications, utterances and any other acts aiming at disparaging the person and businesses of the nominal complainant (Osupa).”
The initial petition stemmed from allegations that Portable made defamatory remarks against Osupa during a live Instagram broadcast on March 19, 2025. Portable allegedly accused Osupa of jealousy and attempting to sabotage his career (“bring down my shine!”).
He also falsely claimed Osupa had removed his music from streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify to prevent him from earning income. Osupa had described these statements as damaging, inciting, and detrimental to his reputation.
Prior to the withdrawal, Chief Magistrate Sunday Adeniyi had granted Portable bail on Monday in the sum of N1 million with two sureties, one required to be a PMAN chairman and the other a landowner within the court’s jurisdiction.
