The Osun State Police Command has advised the governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke, and his supporters to tread with care while celebrating their victory in the recently concluded governorship election in the state.
Adeleke, who ran on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, was victorious in the election after scoring 403,371 to defeat the state Governor Ggboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress who secured 375,027 votes.
The state police in a public announcement signed by Yemisi Opalola, the Command’s spokesperson, advised the Adeleke and supporters to eschew hate or derogatory language that could spark up troubles or cause a breach of the peace in the state.
The Command also maintained that caution became pertinent as hoodlums, criminals and thugs were likely to capitalise on the guise of celebration to hijack and carry out their nefarious acts and jeopardise the peace of the state.
“The CP assured the citizens of adequate security and solicited for the cooperation of all and sundry to sustain the peaceful environment being enjoyed in the state,” he said.
