After nearly four days of being missing, Osun State Police Command officers found the rotting remains of a senior landlord named Oladepo Asaolu.
Asaolu, a native of Ora-Igbomina, Ifedayo Local Government Area, Osun State, was believed to be the Babaloja of the historic settlement.
According to information, one of Asaolu’s tenants allegedly sold him to some kidnappers for N1 million.
It was learnt that Asaolu was taken from his home in Ora-Igbomina by a motorbike at 5 a.m. on October 5, 2022, and taken to an unidentified location.
According to reports, the deceased told his neighbors that the mystery bike rider was transporting him to his property.
However, his body was discovered in a bush four days later.
The incident was confirmed by the state’s police public relations officer, Yemisi Opalola, over the phone.
He said, “It’s true that on Sunday, the decomposing body of the man was discovered in a bush. My understanding is that his tenant, an Osan village native who lives near Ora-Igbomina, sold him to kidnappers for N1 million.”
His kidnappers have been apprehended; four of them are currently in police custody.
