The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has suspended former Minister of Interior and ex-Governor Rauf Aregbesola over alleged anti-party activities, accusing him of creating divisions within the party by establishing a splinter faction.
In a resolution sent to the APC National Secretariat and addressed to National Chairman Dr. Umar Ganduje, the Osun APC asserted that Aregbesola’s actions were undermining party cohesion and unity, especially at a critical time for Osun politics.
The statement from the Osun APC reads, “Aregbesola’s conduct has fueled divisions and caused disunity within the party ranks, which has affected our collective strength.”
They alleged that Aregbesola’s involvement with certain factions of the party had intensified internal discord, which, they say, required decisive action.
The party’s state chapter stated that suspending Aregbesola was necessary to realign party leadership and restore unity ahead of future elections.
A response from Aregbesola’s camp has not yet been issued.
