Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has officially been announced as a Galatasaray player for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
The Turkish giants have secured Osimhen on a loan deal from Serie A champions Napoli, in what is seen as one of the most significant moves of the summer transfer window.
The deal, which does not include a buy option or an obligation to buy, means that Osimhen will return to Napoli at the end of the season in June 2025.
During his one-year stay in Istanbul, Galatasaray will cover his salary, which is reported to be between €9 million and €10 million.
This move comes as part of a broader agreement between Napoli and Osimhen, with the Italian club extending his contract until 2027.
As part of this extension, Napoli has also set a new release clause for Osimhen, now valued at €75 million.
Osimhen’s arrival at Galatasaray is expected to boost the club’s attacking options as they compete domestically and in the UEFA Europa League this season. His goal-scoring prowess will be a significant asset for the Turkish side, which is eager to make an impact both in the Süper Lig and on the European stage.
This loan move also provides Osimhen with a new challenge in his career, as he will experience football in a different environment and league, while Napoli retains the assurance of his return next summer.
Galatasaray fans will be eager to see how the Nigerian international adapts to his new surroundings and whether he can replicate the form that made him a star in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Napoli will watch closely, confident in the knowledge that they have secured their prized asset for the long term.
