In response to jailbreaks around the nation, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has unusually requested President Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate two newly built cell blocks at the Makurdi medium correctional facility.
At a meeting with the residents of Ugondo, the community where the correctional facility is located, Ortom made this disclosure and warned them against intruding on land donated to the facility and any other government agency working to further the prosperity and security of the Benuean people.
The invitation is being extended despite his apparent irreconcilable differences with Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate.
Along with being a significant PDP G5 member, Ortom is also Nyesom Wike’s counterpart from Rivers State.
Ortom and his group are insisting that Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP National Chairrman, who hails from Benue, must quit in order for the them to endorse Atiku’s bid for the presidency in 2023.
