A mechanic, identified simply as Friday, has reportedly been killed in a violent cult clash in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.
The deceased was killed on Monday when some cult members reportedly engaged in a clash in the Aritalin area of the state capital.
It has yet to be ascertained whether the deceased was part of the cult gang or was caught in a crossfire during the violent clash.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, Mr Ben Nebolisa Okolo, has charged operatives to identify and fish out suspected cultists who murdered the mechanic in Yenagoa.
The spokesman for the command, Mr Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident.
He said the police on July 25, 2022, at about 1300 hours, responded to a distress call of a cult clash at Aritalin Street, Yenagoa.
He said the riot policemen on arrival at the scene discovered a lifeless body of a mechanic, one Friday, surname unknown, who was shot by the cultists.
Butswat, a Superintendent of Police, said the photographs of the scene were taken and the corpse was evacuated and deposited at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH), Okolobiri.
He said an investigation was ongoing to identify and arrest the culprits.
