Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew in Owo, Owo Local Government Area, following violent cult clashes that claimed four lives.
The directive, announced on Monday through a statement by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, aims to restore peace and prevent further violence in the affected area.
The statement confirmed that the ongoing cult-related violence had resulted in multiple casualties and heightened security concerns in the community.
“To address the situation, the governor has declared a dawn-to-dusk curfew in Owo until further notice,” Adeniyan stated.
The curfew mandates that all residents remain indoors during the restricted hours.
Exemptions are granted only for essential services such as hospitals, emergency responders, and law enforcement agencies.
Gov. Aiyedatiwa has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly, ensure the protection of lives and property, apprehend those responsible for the clashes, and restore peace to the area.
Residents are urged to comply with the curfew to facilitate swift resolution of the crisis and prevent further loss of lives.
