… distributes over 1000 laptops to participants,
reiterates commitment to facilitating quality projects for the benefit of all constituents
Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called Yayi, has facilitated a five-day ICT training programme for different professionals in his constituency and beyond in Ogun State.
The training programme conducted at the ICT Centre of the Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, was attended by over 1000 selected journalists, doctors, nurses, university and polytechnic staff, members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Education Secretaries, Zonal Education Officers and staff of the Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Igbesa.
Others who participated in the training programme, which ran from March 4 to 8, 2024, included some staff of the College of Agriculture, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, (Ayetoro Campus), staff of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, staff of School of Nursing, Ilaro and staff of Government Science College, Ayetoro.
At the end of the one-week ICT training programme, over 1000 laptops were distributed to all the participants.
Presenting the laptops and certificates to the participants at the end of the training programme at the weekend, Senator Adeola, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, reiterated his commitment to facilitating projects capable of enhancing capacity building and development of the people of Ogun West Senatorial District.
The lawmaker also stated that in addition to ensuring physical and infrastructural development of his senatorial district through quality and robust representation, he would continue to intensify efforts on providing vocational training schemes aimed at the development of the individuals in his constituency.
Senator Adeola, who was represented on the occasion by the Senior Legislative Aide to the Deputy Senate President, Mrs Adebisi Olaotan, noted that the ICT training was not aimed at only boosting the capacity building of the participants, but to also assist them in honing and updating their skills with the latest ICT applications and technologies.
According to him, the five-day training programme was one of the projects aimed at increasing the knowledge and enhancing the development of the individuals amongst his Ogun West constituents.
Yayi also disclosed that selected teachers and students of secondary schools in Ogun West had earlier been trained and empowered with computer laptops.
He further disclosed that with the latest ICT training programme, over 1,500 laptops had already been distributed.
He also disclosed that 15,000 school bags, 20,000 Math and English textbooks had also been distributed to all the primary and secondary schools in Ogun West.
Adeola, who urged the new set of beneficiaries of the ICT training programme to use the knowledge acquired to enhance their service delivery and skills, also pledged to continue to offer quality representation at the Senate with the objective of facilitating more life-changing projects for the benefit of the people of Ogun West Senatorial District.
