Ogun Police Hunt Killers of APC Councillorship Candidate

The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the killers of Adeleke Adeyinka, the All Progressives Congress (APC) councillorship candidate for Ward 15 in Abeokuta South, who was murdered on Saturday.

Adeyinka, 40, was reportedly shot dead by suspected cultists in the early hours of the day.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers arrived in an unmarked vehicle, shot him at close range, and then brutally smashed his head with stones to ensure he was dead.

A transport union worker in the Panseke area of Abeokuta, Adeyinka was preparing to contest in the upcoming November 16 local government elections.

Confirming the incident, Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said, “The police have commenced an investigation into the killing, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.”

Odutola also confirmed that the victim’s body had been released to his family.
