Obi’s Remarks Sparked 400 Threats Against Me, Morka Claims

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka has alleged that he and his family have received over 400 threats, including 200 explicit death threats, following claims by Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi that Morka’s remarks endangered his life.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Wednesday, Morka linked the threats to a previous interview on Sunday, where he had criticised Obi.

He stated, “Peter Obi’s allegations that my words in that interview threatened his life have triggered serious consequences.”

Morka detailed the threats, saying, “I have documented 400 threats, about 200 of which are explicit death threats. These are written threats that I will be submitting to law enforcement agencies.

“In these messages, individuals have detailed how they plan to harm me—threatening to shoot me, behead me, and carry out other gruesome acts. This is not mere rhetoric. It has even extended to direct threats against some members of my family.”

He strongly denied making comments that could be construed as threatening Obi’s life, describing the accusations as unfounded.

“I did not threaten Peter Obi in any way. These threats are from individuals acting on their own. I trust law enforcement will respond swiftly to bring them to justice,” he added.

The controversy began during Sunday’s interview, where Morka accused Obi of “crossing the line” in his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that Obi “deserved whatever came his way.”

His remarks sparked widespread backlash.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar called on the APC to apologise to Obi and Nigerians for what he described as “inflammatory and disgraceful language.”

Similarly, the Labour Party issued a seven-day ultimatum to President Tinubu, demanding disciplinary action against Morka.

In a statement on Tuesday, Marcel Ngogbehei, Director-General of the Labour Party Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration, condemned what he termed a targeted campaign against Obi.
