The Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) is set to hold its first edition of its Conference, Exhibition and Awards.
The award according to the association is to redefine how practitioners in the industry are perceived and to reward stakeholders in the Nigerian OOH ecosystem for professionalism and creativity.
The 2022 OAAN Conference, Exhibition and Awards has its theme: “OOH At The Edge’ with sub-theme for the conference titled: OOH Media Amidst Security, Political and Economic Uncertainties.”
According to the press statement issued by the Association’s Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oyekan the maiden edition of the three-in-one event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 23rd of November 2022 at Marriot Hotel in Ikeja.
The event which will now replace the OAAN’s Annual Poster Awards, through which the Association celebrated the creative agencies for their poster creative executions, is conceived to be more encompassing as it will also reward other stakeholders within the entire out of home advertising ecosystem.
‘This is to encourage innovation, creativity and professional practice in the industry.”
The statement further states: “The OAAN Conference also includes an award designed to encourage and stimulate creativity, innovation and overall high quality in planning, production and execution in Nigeria out of home advertising industry”.
The three-in-one event will comprise of the morning session, which is the OAAN conference with exhibition stands open to visitors and delegates while the afternoon session will be the launch of a pioneering advertising industry book by the Association with the title Out of Home Advertising Practice in Nigeria.
Thereafter, the Awards Night would take place, as the climax of the day.
According to Oyekan, OAAN’s vision, the Statement emphasized, is to make the event the biggest and most credible Out-of-Home engagement in Nigeria, on annual basis.
‘We cannot do less, being the only recognized sectoral group for professional and registered practitioners in advertising practicing Outdoor advertising in Nigeria, and duly recognized by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON)”.
He explained further that in order to give the event the required legitimacy in the industry, OAAN has obtained the full endorsement of ARCON), and all the relevant industry sectoral groups: Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Experiential Marketers Association of Nigeria (EXMAN) and Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN).
The sectoral groups have also been given opportunities for full representation on the panel of judges and Awards Decision Council.
“Also in order to encourage participation by interested operators in the relevant sectors, OAAN has now formally declared open Entries for the awards.
Entries will be received effective Saturday, 1st October 2022 and will close on 30 October 2022.
