Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission says it’s not in possession of files “implicating” President Bola Tinubu.
Media report had on Friday alleged that Department of State Services operatives “removed” all incriminating files relating to Tinubu and close aides from ICPC and Code of Conduct Bureau.
The report claimed that the DSS allegedly asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to steer clear of political cases for now.
But in a reaction on its Twitter page on Saturday, the ICPC described the allegation as untrue.
“The alleged carting away of such imaginary files is unfounded and should be disregarded by the public,” the commission said.
The anti-graft agency said it does not dispute the role of the media to inform the public, but Appeal for responsible reporting.
ICPC said, “For the umpteenth time, the commission wishes to urge media organisations not to allow the use of their medium to propagate lies and unfounded reports by subversive agents.
“The commission’s channels of communications remain open for clarification and confirmation.”
