Corporate and wealthy individuals have been urged to assist the government in improving the healthcare sector for the betterment of the society.
Air Vice Marshall Alkali Mohammed Mamu (retd) made the appeal at the launching of Lami Fatima Cervical Cancer Foundation book presentation in Abuja.
Mamu who is the Baraden Fika, represented the Emir of Fika, Alhaji Mohammed Abali Ibn Idrissa.
He said, “I am calling on the corporate and wealthy individuals to assist the three tiers of government in developing the public health sector for the less-privileged to benefit from better and modern healthcare sector.”
According to him, the public sector is in need of support from the people for the public to have a reliable and healthy lifestyle.
Mamu, however, called on the people to endeavour to visit primary healthcare centres for medical experts to ascertain their illness and prescribe the best medication rather than take to self-medication.
AVM Mamu who is the traditional title holder of Barade, literally meaning Generalissimo of Fika, called on the public to ensure a clean environment to guard against contracting diseases.
He, however, called on the health sector’s stakeholders to be proactive in having modern cancer centres to address the cases of different types of cancer among Nigerians.
