NFF to Officially Unveil Éric Chelle as Super Eagles’ Coach Monday

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to officially introduce Éric Chelle as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles on Monday.

The unveiling will take place at the Media Conference Room of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja at 11 am.

This announcement comes just a week after the NFF appointed the Franco-Malian coach to lead Nigeria’s national football team.

Despite some concerns over Chelle’s credentials, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau has publicly expressed confidence in his ability to succeed in the role.

“We understand the passion Nigerians have for football, and we are aware of the varied reactions following Coach Chelle’s appointment,” Gusau stated in a post on the NFF’s official website.

“However, we urge Nigerians to unite in supporting him, as we believe he has the qualities needed to bring success to the Super Eagles. The NFF will provide all the necessary support for him to thrive.”

In addition to Chelle’s unveiling, the event will also introduce his assistants, who will be responsible for guiding the Super Eagles B team at the African Nations Championship next month.

Following that, the focus will shift to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where Nigeria currently sits in fifth place, trailing the top spot by four points.

March’s fixtures against Rwanda and Zimbabwe will be crucial for the Super Eagles as they aim to recover ground in the competition.

Chelle, who previously led Mali to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, has experience managing top clubs including GS Consolat, FC Martigues, Boulogne, and MC Oran.

He took the reins of Mali’s national team in 2022 and is well-regarded for his tactical acumen and leadership.

As the Super Eagles embark on this new era under Chelle’s guidance, football fans across Nigeria are eager to see how the 47-year-old will shape the team’s future and lead them to success on the international stage.
