The newly elected National Speaker of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Comrade Famuyibo Oluwasegun, has commended the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Muhammed Bello Matawalle, for his leadership and unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The remarks were made during Comrade Oluwasegun’s acceptance speech following his victory at the YAN national election held at Agura Hotels, Abuja, over the weekend.
In his speech, Comrade Oluwasegun, who hails from Ekiti State, lauded Matawalle as a role model for Nigerian youth, particularly highlighting his courage in combating banditry and terrorism in the North West and across the nation.
“My mentor, His Excellency Dr. Matawalle extended an unalloyed hand of leadership, direction, and support to me, which were instrumental to making my victory a reality,” said the newly elected Youth Speaker, emphasizing Matawalle’s critical role in his rise to the leadership position.
He further expressed gratitude to the YAN Board of Trustees, the Convention Planning Committee, and the delegates for entrusting him with the responsibility to lead the 4th Assembly of Nigerian Youths.
In his goodwill message, the Acting Chairman of the YAN Board of Trustees, Hon. Gt. C Samuel, urged the new leaders to serve as exemplary ambassadors for Nigerian youth. He called on them to bring forward their best ideas in preparation for the inauguration of the 4th Assembly.
Other members of the newly elected leadership include Umar Bala Babayaro from Kaduna State as Deputy National Speaker, Sadiq Abubakar from Borno State as Majority Leader, Ezeanikwe Charles as Deputy Majority Leader, Raymond Sylvanus from Cross River State as National Chief Whip, Jennifer Ornguga from Benue State as National Minority Leader, and Jude Chinonso as Diaspora Ambassador.
The election marks a new chapter for the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, with the leadership team set to focus on empowering Nigerian youth and advocating for their interests nationwide.
